Audio Projects
Over the course of the semester, I worked on various audio projects for the station. Some are not featured here because I could not get files for them. I edited several radio spots that were played on-air, including spots for the Blackhawk Children's Theatre's performance of The Secret Garden. I also created several radio edits for our Spring Share Fundraiser. These shorter versions were played in between share spots during the fundraiser. Some of the other projects I was able to upload are featured below.
Aircheck from 4/28 Show
The project below is YouTube video of all the times I was on the air (except my sign off) from my radio show on April 28, 2015. The show was run from 12 AM- 2 AM. I worked with my site supervisor, Bryon Mengle, to come up with ideas for stories to talk about on-air. He also gave me the station liners for the week and worked with me to set up the Voicetrac program to be able to record. Basically he then let me go and record my show on my own. I recorded and put it NextGen to be played. On the next day that i was in, 4/29, Bryon and I reviewed the tracks, and the feedback that I got was that these were very good, and definitely an improvement from the beginning. One thing we talked about was varying up my intro, but he did say that it was good that I was consistent as well.

News 3/5
On two different occasions I recorded news spots for Bryon's morning show. My first task was to research a handful of stories, and synthesize the material in them. Then I met with Bryon to go over the stories and pick the best ones. Once we did that, I went to the studio to record them, and sent them to Bryon. He then played them on the air. We reviewed them, and he thought that the stories were good, and the information for the most part was good. He recommended a few changes, especially with numbers given, and he also recommended that I continue to work on my voice. The following video contains the 7 and 8 newscasts, with the only difference being the time line.

Interviews
Early on during my internship, I recorded three interviews, one with Aaron Buzza, one with Coree Burton, and one with Alex Wilson. These interviews consisted of me first coming up with questions to ask based on the subject matter. Then I met with Bryon to go over the question before the interview, and kind of structure them correctly. Bryon always talked with me about getting a good introduction, and getting to know the person better. The next task was to get to the meat of the interview, and then ask the question that wrapped up the interview neatly. He told me to think of the interview a line. You have the beginning, the middle, and the end, with the middle being the most important part. Once we got the questions down, I recorded the interviews and edited them down to 4-5 minutes. Then Bryon and I would review them. One of the biggest problems that I ran into that we discussed was asking good follow-up questions. Another concern with my voice was talking without range, so we talked about working on that. Below is the interview with Coree, which I really enjoyed because we talked about comic books.
The projects above are the main things I worked on with production. Each project was practiced several times throughout the course of the internship, with the exception of the radio show. If you would like to hear more of the files that didn't make it on the site, contact me at my email, [email protected].
